General Manager’s Report
By Larranne Hartridge
I’m very happy to report that the end is in sight! It has been a long and difficult challenge for New Leaf Market to remain operational throughout this expansion process. If all goes according to plan, we should be opening the final section of the store by late October. We will then tackle the finishing touches.
Phase three has been the most challenging and cramped of them all. Skinny aisles, plus the loss of a register, has us all struggling. I want to thank all of you for having patience and kindness throughout this process. It really means a lot to us during this stressful time.
Another matter of importance, one that we all need to be aware of, and assist with, is alleviating shoplifting. As part of the expansion, we installed a very effective security system with surveillance cameras. Viewing the footage has been enlightening and horrifying. Customers have nibbled their weight in unpaid bulk items, stolen backpacks full of groceries and have even gone as far as attempting (we caught this particular person) to steal an entire shopping cart full of groceries packed in canvas bags! As a result of this we are enacting a new store policy. Effective immediately, customers can no longer carry unpaid groceries in canvas bags or backpacks while shopping in the store. Please use a grocery cart or hand basket to carry your groceries. Re-useable bags are still allowed, and encouraged, at New Leaf Market. However, we ask that you do not use the bags until checkout.
As owners of this co-op, we are all responsible to protect our asset. Please, if you notice any suspicious activity, alert a staff member immediately.
Thank you for your support.
