Call Your Friends, It’s A Barbeque!
By David Roloff, Meat and Seafood Manager
With summer right around the corner a lot of us are thinking about our favorite warm weather past time, barbeques with friends and family. So fill those coolers with ice cold beers, call all your friends and dust off those grills.
Most people have a favorite grilling item whether it be hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, pork, beef, or fish. We are going to talk about two of the most popular and delicious items: the first being rib eye steaks. Rib eyes are one of the most flavorful cuts of beef, full of marbling that melts like butter, making this cut extremely tender. There are several ways to prepare this steak—wet marinade, a dry rub, or my favorite, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.
Next up, we have baby back ribs. Why are baby backs so delicious? Is it the slightly burned crispy outer layer? The tender meat that falls off the bone? The sweetness of your favorite sauce? Whatever it may be, there is no denying that baby back ribs are a must-have at any barbeque. There are several ways to prepare ribs, the most popular being a dry rub or marinade. In Kansas City they prefer a spicy red sauce; in the Carolinas, a mustard; in south Florida, a Caribbean mojo; and in Tennessee, a tangy dry rub. No matter which way you to choose to prepare them, you are sure to have a winner on your hands!
