Reusable Bag Donation Program

Natural Times, June/July/August 2017

Donate your reusable bag reward & we'll match it!

How can you positively impact our local environment AND support local non-profit businesses in two steps? Bring in reusable bags for your groceries, and donate your bag refund at the register! Each month we’ll select a local charity, and you can decide if you’d like to pass your bag refund on to them. We’re even matching your donations, which means that each bag you use could equal a 20¢ donation.

June Featured Organization: Tallahassee Museum

The Mission of the Tallahassee Museum is to promote knowledge and understanding of the Big Bend’s cultural history and natural environment, inspiring people to enrich their lives and build a better community.

The Tallahassee Museum is a 52-acre nonprofit outdoor Museum, located on beautiful Lake Bradford where history, nature, and, wildlife intersect to tell an intriguing story about Florida’s natural and cultural heritage. This unique Museum with its 1880s farmstead, historical buildings, live collection of native wildlife, and scenic grounds, provides hands-on learning and entertainment for all ages. The internationally acclaimed exhibit, Jim Gary’s Twentieth Century Dinosaurs, also calls the Museum home.  These vividly colored dinosaurs sculpted from recycled car parts evoke thoughts about art, science and sustainability. Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures, the Museum’s new zip line and adventure course, encourages visitors to explore the majesty of nature from high in the trees. There is something for everyone at the Tallahassee Museum.

July Featured Organization: Refuge House

The mission of Refuge House is to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to their children and families, as well as to eliminate such violence through community education and public advocacy. Refuge House offers support and resources to people who have been hurt by abuse or violence.  They offer guidance and encouragement for families and friends worried about a daughter, sister, child, or parent.  Refuge House is eager to meet with your church, professional group, workplace, or club to talk about how you can help prevent domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.

If you would like to offer your help in support of our mission, there are many ways for you to make a difference in the lives of survivors and their children.  Together, we can save lives, build hope, and end violence.
