Here we are in another fun summer in Tallahassee. But just because it is hot, doesn’t mean the Board isn’t busy. Here’s an update on the Board committees.
Nominations & Elections Committee
I am the chair with Maria Cobian and Sue Hansen as members. We are gearing up for the election season by contacting potential Board candidates and holding two candidate forums in July (see next page for details). All of our work is pointed toward the start of elections at the Annual Meeting on November 3.
Board Budget Committee
June Wiaz is the chair and Dave Watson and Hugh Boyter are members. They have been very active getting the information to create next year’s Board budget. As expected, they have done a great job.
Dave is chair and Wendy Morgan and Madelon Horwich, members. Last year the Board suspended the scholarship program for one year to allow this committee to reevaluate our scholarship priorities and plan for the future. They have had several meetings with outside sources and are very active. I would like to thank Denise Tansy and Chuck Hungerford for all of the great work they have done with the scholarships through the years.
Madelon is the chair and Hugh and I are members. This committee has revised New Leaf Market’s bylaws and will propose recommended revisions for the owners’ approval on the 2012 ballot. Madelon has done tremendous work here and it shows in the finished product.
Comprised of two sub-committees:
- Owner Communication Subcommittee
June is chair and Jennifer Agabiti-Hall and Wendy are members. This committee is responsible for communicating with owners using such means as newsletter articles, bulletin board, owner drives and various other methods.
- Education Subcommittee
Maria is chair with Hugh and Sue as members. This committee educates the Board on how to be better Board members and better understand our role at New Leaf Market. They continue to bring great topics to the round table discussions.
Well, that’s about it for this issue. Please talk to your Board members to find out more about our activities or come to a Board meeting sometime. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Annual Owners’ Meeting, Saturday, November 3 at 1:30 pm at the American Legion Hall!
