General Manager's Report
Natural Times, April/May/June 2014

New Leaf Market Co-op (NLMC) turns 40 this May! We have loads to celebrate and we want you to come celebrate with us. On May 10th join our Co-op Carnival complete with live music, kid booths, free food and more. See page 8 for details. I have been involved with New Leaf Market Co-op/Leon County Food Co-op since 1983 when I was a volunteer up through being hired in 1995. I’ve seen so many changes and improvements over the years, all of which we’ll be reflecting on over the weeks and months ahead. I hope to see you at the party!
Our one and only Marketing Manager, Cristin Burns, appeared in the newspaper lately as one of the 25 Women You Need to Know. Her feature in the Friday, March 7th Tallahassee Democrat highlighted her work with the annual Farm Tour, and her volunteer work with Big Bend Hospice and Second Harvest of the Big Bend. Cristin has worked at NLMC for 16 years. We are all very proud of her!
With the arrival of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s last October, sales have declined, but certainly not as much as we expected. We look at their arrival as a positive addition to Tallahassee as more and more folks will experience a healthier diet. That said, we always need your support no matter what!
On a rather sad note, the Co-op has been experiencing a lot of shoplifting the last few months. We are diligently catching and prosecuting individuals. Unfortunately, we have had to make some changes to our return policy in order to protect our assets and yours. Beginning March 31, 2014, all supplements, vitamins and body care products require a receipt within 30 days of purchase in order to receive a refund or exchange. No refunds, exchanges or credits will be issued for supplements without a receipt. All remaining products are eligible for a refund within 14 days with a receipt and a store credit or exchange will be issued without a receipt. Thank you for your understanding.
