Seeking New BOD Members
By Nomination Committee
The New Leaf Market Board of Directors (BOD) is currently seeking primary owners who are interested in running for a position on the Board. We will be hosting forums for those interested on Wednesday, July 13 and Wednesday, July 27.
Directors, current and past, will define the BOD’s role and workload. Materials explaining BOD structure, BOD responsibilities and job descriptions, BOD code of ethics, and anticipated time commitment for Board and committee work, will be provided. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm, with the forum beginning promptly at 7:15 pm. Please contact Board Vice President Jim Terrell at firstname.lastname@example.org or 878-3240, or Board Director Dave Watson at 576-6891 or email@example.com.
As stated in our policy manual, “…the board govern(s) with an emphasis on
- outward vision rather than internal preoccupation
- strategic leadership more than administrative detail
- collective rather than individual decision
- (a vision for the) future rather than reactivity
- (an) encouragement of diversity in the viewpoints.”
The BOD works as a group, with facilitation. We are part of a national pilot cooperative BOD project on developing BOD excellence. The training you will receive will not only help you become an effective BOD member, but will help you in many facets of your life. Board directors spend an average of eight-to-ten hours per month. You should be able to make room in your life for this time commitment if you are interested in running for the BOD. If this all sounds interesting to you, please stop by the forum. BOD Declarations of Candidacy must be submitted to customer service by Thursday, August 18.
Board of Directors Nomination Booklets, containing applications for primary owners wishing to run for a seat on the BOD, are now available at the Customer Service Desk.
