New Leaf Market invites citizens To ‘Feast from Farms’ in annual Eat Local, America! initiative
Initiative unites food lovers across the country in support of local food producers Tallahassee, FL (May 18, 2011) – Want to learn more about eating local? New Leaf Market is launching a campaign this summer to help people do just that. From June 1 through June 30, consumers can explore the benefits of eating the region’s best locally sourced foods through Eat Local, America!, an initiative led by co-op grocers nationwide.
Throughout the month of June, local producers will be in the store demoing their products. Stop by to meet the people behind the food. Recipes, menu guides and more will be available, along with a daily hot bar dish made from local ingredients. For more information, visit www.newleafmarket.coop.
To participate, shoppers are invited to stop by New Leaf Market to find great local food options and event information and join the Eat Local, America! online community at www.eatlocalamerica.coop. Participants are asked to set a goal for themselves. Whether it is eating one meal a week made with local foods or trying to source a specific percentage of meals locally, all participants can set a goal that fits their lifestyle.
New Leaf Market defines local food as grown within 200 miles of the Co-op. During Eat Local, America! and throughout the year, New Leaf Market helps shoppers identify local food by using Local Color signage.
