Co-op Sweeps The Chamber Awards
6-3-14 - On Tuesday, June 3, the Chamber Awards were announced at a luncheon at the University Center Club. Not only did New Leaf Market Co-op win Locally Owned Business of the Year, but it also took home the coveted overall Business of the Year Award, chosen from the winners of the individual categories.
The annual Chamber Awards recognize businesses and non-profits demonstrating excellence in the categories of Entrepreneurial Start Up, Locally Owned, Manufacturing, Non-Profit, and Service and Technology & Innovation. New Leaf Market Co-op was named a finalist in the Locally Owned category alongside Clark’s Appliance Sales & Service Center and Proctor Dealerships.
Recognition is always welcomed, but these two awards are especially poignant coming on the heels of not one, but two corporate competitors coming to town. The Co-op’s mission reaches far beyond the sales floor and out into the community. With programs like the seminars, donations, outreach and the farm tour, New Leaf Market Co-op gives back to the community that has supported it for over 40 years.
The Co-op is only as strong as its community. These awards are dedicated to the New Leaf Market Co-op staff, Board of Directors, owners and customers, without whom the Co-op would not exist. The Co-op is honored to have been nominated alongside such outstanding businesses and truly overwhelmed to have been chosen as Locally Owned and Business of the Year!
