Truffle-Laden Little Miss Piggy Cheese Now Available!
Meet the newest additions to our gourmet cheese case: Montazzio and Little Miss Piggy! Both hail from Flat Creek Lodge in Swainsboro, Georgia, located just a few miles outside our 200-mile local perimeter. In their own words, “Our dairy and farm work to maintain respectful interaction with the local ecology.... Moreover, our dairy is home to an all-Jersey herd, which allows us to produce exceptional quality cheeses. Jersey milk is generally accepted as being the best milk in the world, which leads to the best cheese. Additionally, since we repeatedly use the same milk from only our cows, we know that each batch of cheese aging in our cave will maintain consistency, and for Flat Creek Lodge cheeses, that means consistently delicious.”
Montazzio is a firm washed-rind cheese that is aged over six months and has a dry, mild flavor. It is a great addition to any refined cheese plate or a nice arugula and pear salad. Little Miss Piggy is a softer, milder cheese that is chock full of truffles. Adding truffles to Little Martha—Flat Creek’s Italian crescenza style cheese and one of its staples—creates Little Miss Piggy’s creamy decadence best enjoyed as a spread for fruit or bagels. Both of these cheeses can be found in the cheese case by the deli.
