Owners In Action: 2010 Election Results

From our position it was obvious that this year's field of New Leaf Market Board of Directors candidates were all solid choices. Any combination of the four candidates running for the three open seats would continue to improve the Board's ability to represent the best interests of our ownership as a whole.
We would like to congratulate June Wiaz, Jennifer Agabiti-Hall, and Jim Terrell on their re-election to the New Leaf Market Board. In the true sense of all things co-operative, we also thank Hugh Boyter, who was gracious in defeat after not quite getting the necessary votes. We appreciate Hugh's many years of supporting the Co-op and putting the needs of the Co-op first.
We also thank the staff of New Leaf Market for beautifully anticipating our every move in promoting and efficiently executing the details of running an election: Cristin Burns, marketing manager, Jean Crozier, community outreach coordinator, and Diane Bass, graphic designer and marketing assistant. Greg Terrell and Robert Dixon from our I.T. department supported our voter verification efforts. And then there was Adriane Whiteman, front end manager, who oversaw the candidates bagging groceries on two August Saturday afternoons. She made bagging groceries for the customers easy as the board candidates mixed it up (we mean the conversation, not the groceries!) with the shoppers.
Most importantly, thank you to all who took the time to learn about the candidates and voted. We are all in this together.
