The Return of the Intrepid Voter

Natural Times July/August/September 2010

By Dave Watson, Board Director

Votes by primary owners will once again determine who will assist in the proper guidance of our co-op. Three of the candidates featured in this article are running for re-election. One candidate, a long-time owner and well qualified to serve on the Board of Directors, is also asking for your consideration. All four candidates are resolute in their conviction that they can best fill the three open seats. Our candidates need you, the voter, to once again sort through the facts and make the kind of informed decision that has helped New Leaf Market (NLM) to endure and prosper.

In addition to the information contained in this newsletter, there will be two election forums held in the New Leaf Market meeting room at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 21. This is the primary owner's chance to get to know the candidates and ask those fearless questions that get right to the heart of the matter.

On Sunday, August 15 each candidate will address the ownership during the Annual Ownership meeting. Voting will begin at the conclusion of the Annual Ownership meeting and run for 15 days, through August 30, 2010.

Please remember that only primary owners can vote. There is only one primary owner per family. While other family members may have an owner card and take advantage of the benefits of shopping at NLM, they are associate owners and cannot vote. If you are unsure which member of your family is the primary owner, customer service will be glad to assist you.

In addition to voting at the Annual Ownership Meeting, primary owners can vote in person at NLM, or mail in a ballot. If mailed, it must be postmarked no later than August 30, 2010, the last day of the election period.

Please follow the instructions accompanying the ballot as to how to properly, yet anonymously, cast your vote. It is a shame each year that votes are improperly cast and therefore cannot be counted.

The intrepid voter will avoid all pitfalls and deliver their ballot to the betterment of our co-op.

HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE

Each primary owner may vote in the election (one primary owner = one ballot).

There are three (3) openings on the Board, so you may vote for up to three (3) candidates.

Option 2: You may return this ballot, or complete one in the store, between 8:00 am, Monday, August 16 and 10:00 pm, Monday, August 30, 2010.
