General Manager's Report
By Larrane Hartridge
To date, New Leaf Market has deposited $245,000 in owner loans towards our expansion. This would never have occurred without the leadership of Cristin Burns and a dedicated team of owners who all want to see New Leaf Market succeed. Bob Walker, Leslie Hanks, Ben Beldock, Danny Filer, Jennifer Agabiti, Dave Watson and Jim Terrell all logged countless hours on the phone. Their support of the Co-op is inspirational and we owe them all a huge thank you.
We have a store floor plan designed that we are sure you all will enjoy. Some of the key areas are moving the kitchen and deli operation to where the freezer section is now and seating to the front of the store where there will be natural lighting. The restrooms will be relocated to the front of the store, we will have a foyer to house our carts and help with our heating and air costs, and the meat and seafood department will be in the back of the store. Everyone has been working so hard to design and deliver the best possible store. Construction is slated to begin late summer.
We closed out the year end on April 30 with sales reaching $8.6 million. We showed a healthy profit, some of which will go towards our expansion. The Board of Directors has approved patronage rebates of $35,785.00. We are hoping to get the checks out earlier this year as our expansion will be quite disruptive during the fall when we are usually print the checks.
The Board also authorized $10,000.00 in profit sharing to share among the staff.
