Board Retreat Report
By Darlene Duran
Hi, my name is Darlene Duran and I am one of your newly appointed board members. Being a board member has opened my eyes to the store's many challenges and to the many opportunities available to this type of organization. I hope to share what I learn with you, the owners, on a continual basis and get your feedback on important decisions.
To that end, the first thing I want to share is the exciting experience we recently had at our annual fall retreat. The fall retreat was a full day and a half of discussion among the board of directors, General Manager Larrane Hartridge, and board consultant with Co-operative Development Services, Marilyn Scholl. We discussed New Leaf's future as well as its role in the community. We discussed the importance of keeping up the standards of the organic label, ways to better serve members, and how to continue to support our community. What struck me most in these discussions was the degree to which New Leaf is already contributing to Tallahassee and the environment and how dedicated we are to continuing this effort.
I feel we have a great board of directors and a great general manager that together will continue to serve our community. I look forward to talking with you in the coming year.
Darlene Duran
